Deciding On Whether Or Not To Tip Your Tow Truck Driver Or Operator

Should you tip that driver or operator from the tow truck company? You're under no obligation to tip the tow truck operator, which is why the answer to that question comes down to you. What has been your experience with the driver? Do you feel that the operator deserves the tip?

To help you decide whether or not you should tip, and how much you should tip, here are a few factors to take into consideration.

1. Showing Up On Time

After calling for a tow truck and letting the company know where you are, they will give you a rough estimate of how long it will take the driver to get to your location. Did the driver get there on time?

It can be quite frightening to find yourself stuck in the middle of nowhere. Timeliness is a good reason to consider giving the tow truck driver a tip.

2.  Excellent Service Delivery

There is good service, and then there is great service. Did the tow truck driver demonstrates an exceptional level of skill, ensuring that they tow your vehicle safely and quickly?

Tow truck operators leaving the vehicles they are towing with scratches and dents, for whatever reason, is not unheard of and it can happen to anyone. A tip for work well done is always well deserved.

3. Great Communication Skills

Did the tow truck driver keep you updated on how far along they were on their way to you? Did they let you know about why they may be late? Having this information will help put you at ease as you wait for the tow truck to arrive.

Again, you may have some questions for the operator. How readily and how well did they respond to your questions and any concerns raised?

4. Going Above And Beyond

Showing up on time, doing a great job, and answering your questions certainly falls within what is expected of your tow truck operator. However, it's the simplest of things such as agreeing to your request to make a quick stop somewhere on your way to the tow destination, be it to grab a quick snack or whatever else. Not every driver would be willing to do that.

Tipping is a great way to reward good service, and it's no different with towing service. If you feel that the tow truck driver deserves it, then, by all means, go ahead and leave a tip.
